This still life is composed of objects I associate with Inner Mongolia, where my father grew up. I spent a summer there as a child with my grandparents, also taking classes in traditional Mongolian dance, so despite not having a more than the typical Han Chinese amount of Mongolian blood in me, I have since then felt a bit of affinity to the culture. 
I should emphasize that these are objects I in particular associate with Inner Mongolia, because I also had to explain to my father why I titled this painting the way it is...such is the plight of second generation immigrants...
